Luke takes his Transformers seriously. Here he is checking up on Wikipedia using my BlackyBerry after lunch. (I don't think this picture really shows his concentration.)

Watching Luke play with my old Transformers or build a hanger for the plane, I cannot help but watch in awe (no need to disrupt), and I keep thinking my boy is just like me (for better or worse).

My adventure from one end of Long Island to the other this morning, http://twitter.com/cperfett

@jmperf And you thought an hour on the LIRR was long from Montauk through the Hamptons. Guess Monday morning is no better that Sunday?

How would the dude from The Amazing Race say it? After almost four hours and a Long Island traveled, I am at the office.

Montauk to the Crossroads of the World. Waiting to change subways then a quick walk to the office.

The guy behind me must have been on train just as long as me: lime green pants that scream Hamptons weekend.

After being this late, you'd think we could pull right in at Hunterspoint Ave. Not the case as we sit here stopped.

No connection waiting in Jamaica and lots of people waiting for it mean going to Hunterspoint for the subway. @jmperf right under ur office.

@jmperf thanks. I didn't need the sunglasses being up before dawn, and even when it was cloudy. Seems to have burned off already here.

Jamaica. Change or not? Probably not, this late, but maybe they held the connecting train to Penn. It's happened before.

Leaving Hicksville. Just like a normal day, even to being awake at 5AM. Difference being on the train rather than gym and kids.

Nearing Hicksville, I wonder if, as per my usual routine, I would have taken this train, knowing its seven minutes late?

Finally, a station I recognize: Babylon. A great weekend in Montauk, tinged with sadness and loss, and now almost back to the real world.

Nice to see this train runs late from the start, not just getting to Hicksville, when I normally get on.

It's freezing on this train. Not just chilly.

Lots of stops between The Hamtons and Babylon, but flying along now. Might change when we get back to civilization in Babylon.

Over an hour on the train and now finished in the Hamptons.

The sun is up, at least it's light out, as we pass a vineyard between Bridge and Southhampton.

Pulling into East Hampton. Running a couple minutes late. Just had my ticket checked, $14 to extend the ride.
